La question d'Irlande du Nord relève de deux conceptions incompatibles de l'appartenance nationale que ne reflète pas l'opposition souvent utilisée entre catholiques et protestants : analyse des facteurs ethno-nationalistes, économiques et culturels de ce conflit et des solutions que tente d'y apporter l'accord du Vendredi Saint de 1998. Le respect de cet accord nécessitera de nombreux compromis entre les deux communautés et la pression des Etats-Unis a été un facteur décisif.
